Privacy & Compliance
Last updated: August 4, 2026
SettleYourDebt is committed to operating in full compliance with the federal and state laws that govern telemarketing, lead generation, and consumer privacy. This page summarizes the standards we follow and the controls we maintain. It supplements — and should be read together with — our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. TCPA Compliance (Telephone Consumer Protection Act)
We only permit consumers to be contacted on the basis of prior express written consent that satisfies the TCPA and the E-SIGN Act. Specifically:
- Consent is captured through a clear and conspicuous disclosure displayed directly above the submit button, with an unchecked-by-default checkbox that the consumer must affirmatively check.
- The disclosure names SettleYourDebt and states that matched debt relief partners may contact the consumer by live agent, artificial or prerecorded voice, autodialed calls, text/SMS, and email.
- Consent is never a condition of purchase, and consumers may revoke it at any time — by replying STOP to any text, telling any caller, or using our Do Not Call page.
- For every lead we record the exact consent language shown, a timestamp, the consumer's IP address, user agent, and the URL where consent was given, creating a complete audit trail.
2. FTC Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR)
- We retain lead and consent records for a minimum of five (5) years, as required by the TSR.
- We maintain an internal Do Not Call list and honor opt-out requests promptly. Requests submitted through our Do Not Call page take effect on our internal list immediately and are fully processed within 10 business days.
- Outreach lists are scrubbed against the National Do Not Call Registry; consumers on the registry are contacted only where a valid consent exception applies.
3. Debt Relief Advertising Standards
- We do not charge consumers for our matching service, and we do not collect any fees for debt relief services. Under the TSR's debt relief provisions, our partners may only collect fees after a debt has been successfully settled.
- Savings claims on this site describe historical results some consumers have achieved, are accompanied by disclosures, and are not a guarantee of any individual outcome.
- We clearly disclose that SettleYourDebt is a marketing lead generator and not a debt settlement company, law firm, or lender.
4. State Consumer Privacy Laws
We honor consumer rights under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and comparable laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, and other states. Depending on your state of residence, you may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising via our Do Not Call / Do Not Sell page.
- Exercise your rights without discrimination.
We verify and respond to rights requests within the timeframes required by the applicable law. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
5. Data Handling & Security
- Form submissions are transmitted over SSL/TLS-encrypted connections.
- We collect only the information needed to match consumers with debt relief providers, and we never ask for a full Social Security number, bank credentials, or payment information.
- Access to lead data is restricted, and information is shared only with the matched partner(s) identified to the consumer and the service providers described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Partner Standards
Debt relief providers who receive inquiries from SettleYourDebt are required to hold the licenses applicable in the states they serve, comply with the TCPA and TSR in their outreach, and honor consumer opt-out and privacy requests. We review partner practices and terminate relationships with partners who fail to meet these standards.
7. Report a Compliance Concern
If you believe you were contacted without proper consent, or have any other compliance concern, please email compliance@settleyourdebt.com or use our contact form. Include the phone number or email address that was contacted so we can investigate promptly.
